The AQQA glass mounted dual power sponge filter is perfect for multiple aquarium up to 55 gallons. The outlet is telescoping and directional so you can adjust the water/air flow to the desired level and direction.
There's no need to connect an air pump to this filter due to the built in pump which efficiently pulls water through the sponges, through the bio media and out of the directional output.
These filters feature a unique compartment beneath each sponge for the included bio media to provide additional surface area for the growth of beneficial bacteria.
One of the best things about this filter is the fact that it can be mounted on the glass on the back or side of the aquarium so as to not interfere with Aquascaping. See dimensions in the photo.
Each filter comes with an extra sponges which is great because you can clean one while using a fresh sponge or if you have fish that like to nip at the sponge you have a back up once the original is deteriorated.
Nice to have dual sponge with media filters powered by a small pump. The suction cups aren’t great. I think it needs a horizontal stem at the top with two suction cups so it holds better.
Based on the pictured product on the website, I thought I was purchasing the one with the built in pump. I received the one that hooks to an air pump. It may have been my error, and either way, it turns out the air powered one is the one I needed anyway. Pleased with the product I got, and that's what matters.
Love everything about it. Being able to change just 1 side at a time to preserve beneficial bacteria - someone was thinking! Great design. So many advantages compared to a standard cylindrical sponge filter:
Built-in submersible pump
Can add bio media
Telescoping directional output tube
Position sponges either vertically or horizontal or ???
Mounts on tank wall with suction cups, off the substrate
Alternating sponge cleaning to retain beneficial bacteria
So far I have found no faults. I only wish I could position the sponges both horizontally against the aquarium wall. I have compromised by putting it in the corner with 1 upright and the other horizontal.
And it comes in other sizes - smaller ones requiring an air pump. I am currently using 1 of the smaller ones to supplement a Fluval in-tank Nano filter.
I travel for a living, so I like to ha e some extra filtration in my 25 gallon cube while I am gone. My water stays crystal clear and my water quality remains constant with great water parameters! Loving this extra mechanical/bio filter
Haven't hooked the air line yet
Working great exactly as the shawn in John's video.
great, I hope it lasts years!
Easy to set set up. Blends in nicely to my aquarium décor.
More will be purchased in the future
I bought the fancier filter from KG tropicals and it was DOA. John and Lisa were very prompt and friendly in helping me - I really appreciate the service I got! The defective filter was replaced right away with the one that doesn't have the air pump (and a pump to run it!).
Fast shipping, fantastic service and great people! :)
Works incredible. Very strong. Everyone loves to eat off it and use it to hide. I couldn't be more please with performance, look or speed on of delivery.
As a budget filter this thing is great. Powerful, quiet, and not the eyesore that most sponge filters are plus this one has its own pump. I don't like how flimsy and fragile this feels though. Aside from that for the price and pros... you can't beat it...
Excellent filter so far, very pleased. Exactly how described on YouTube video. My guppies are not over powered by it at all.
These filters are awesome!! Great flow in a 55 gallon!
I like it even if I oversized it, works great except for the suction mounts they do t work that well
I have this filter in a 40gal breeder tank with a aqueion power filter. This filter replaced a air powered sponge filter. In this tank I have rice fish shrimp and large snails. The water was not very clear until I added this filter I like that this is a powered filter and that is all I use in my tanks. I have seven tanks in all and have been in the fish keeping hobby all of my 73 years and to this day I hate sponge filters. For me they just do not get the water very clear like I like it.
Everything works great!
I really like the way it is set up. Works well in moving some water around also. My only problem is that I have a couple Golden Loaches that love to move things around. Including the filter! Lol
Awesome products would definitely buy more just wish they had them for bigger tanks but all in all great products!!! I will definitely be making more purchases in the future
